This week we promise not to talk much about the Vancouver riots…
But we spent a few minutes talking how the mob mentality moved from the streets of Vancouver to social media.

Vancouver was outraged by the riots and took to Social Media to tag pictures and video and report the rioters to the police. This was a great use of social media to identify people committing crimes. But it went further than this. It crossed a line when people who weren’t even present were shamed and threatened for what their family members did. Andrew says that crosses the line and Bob agrees. @Twisted_Majic (Gamer Maven) brings up some good points about going back to the days of the wild west.

Bob talks about how he shot a video of the riot aftermath and he said he was able to get those shots because he has previous experience as a journalist and was able to get close. Hat Maven said Bob was naked ( and therefore invisible) and that is how he got that footage.

Hat Maven says the mob mentality may take over The Bunker Project and lower all our IQ’s if any more people show up for the podcast… big turnout this week.

Andrew makes a final point about all the volunteers that showed up the next day to clean up the city and the the signing of the plywood as well as the police car that was covered in sticky notes saying thank you!

And now the round table introductions of our Maven Panel…

Bonnie @bsainsbury, the Twitter Maven
Satomi Hirano – talks about the Zoomers
Astrid – German Maven – talks about her white not so fashionable headphones
Ian Nethercott – The Car Deal Maven – www.freecarbuyingtips.ca
New Bartender – My name is Eric and I’m serving black beers tonight
James Karg – The Gaming Maven @Twisted_Majic
>> Look up the Majic 12
Kurt – The Hat Maven – Kurt is here to dispute a disparaging comment made by the Game Maven a
few episodes back.
Jackson – Also a gamer – talks about the games he likes.

@Twisted_Majic brings up using gaming as an educational tool.
The Hat Maven looks at video games as an interactive book and gives a shout out to parents about how to deal with gaming children.

Bob brings up a great book… The Diamond Age (again) and says it is definitely worth the read.

Next topic: Gamification – The gamification of everything.

Gamification vs Badgification ??

Bob and @Twisted_Majic says to check out Bounty Island.

Bob brings up another book… The Game (again) – a combination of online and offline games.

The deeper meaning of games – the fourteen forms of fun

Bob brings up another book… Enders Game – great book.

Ian is playing games on his iPad while we speak…

The Hat Maven calls for the digression… cheers!

Bonnie wants to know the deeper meaning of Angry Birds.
Ian is the only person present who has never played Angry Birds.

Some talk about flash and iOS…

Next Topic… Phone Cameras
Anybody still carries a real camera now that good quality camera phones are out?
Good discussion about phone cameras as Bob takes a ton of shots from his fancy stand-alone camera.

Bob brings up the technology that allows you take a picture and choose what part of the picture is in focus after you take the picture. Pretty cool!

Andrew tries to bring up the Microsoft Mind Tab again… but nobody was listening.

Have you liked the Bunker Project on facebook yet?

The Hat Maven brings up the new version of Final Cut and he says it kicks butt at the $299 price point.

Bob and Game Maven argue about whether EA got hacked…
But Dropbox definitely had an issue for a couple of hours.

Bob talks about a word that he learned recently – Zeitgeist.

Bob asks what everyone’s favourite TV shows were when we were kids.
— Huge digression about tv shows.

Aglatunitive – another word from Bob
Apparently, it is Andrews fault because he always says “What’s the word?”

Bob keeps bringing topics up from the show notes… Andrew is wondering how these topics got into the show notes and then he realized that there are two sets of show notes.

Myspace was purchased by a group including Justin Timberlake.
Microsoft buys Skype

Satomi asks about the demographics for the different social networks.

Bob brings up infographics because a picture is worth a thousand words.
