Privacy – how to protect yourself online from being tracked!
Jason said the only way to be private is to never leave your house. In the new world everything is public.
We talk about Path and the controversy over storing your smart phone address book on their servers… without disclosing it fully except in the fine print.
Arik says he accepts fully that on free social network platforms his information is being used for marketing purposes.
But on business tools like google docs and skype, etc should remain private.
Curt brings up a point that a lot of people are not aware the extent of which personal data is being farmed.
Andrew brings up the person who wants to be completely private but is friends with someone who signs up for Path and now path has her contact information on Path servers without her consent.
We talk about the privacy situation in Brasil and elsewhere in the world.
A detailed discussion about privacy follows.
Chris says we were being monitored in the 1970′s but we just didn’t know about it. Now it’s public and it is going to get worse.
Jason says check out jasonjosephstudio.com to see his portfolio.
Curt brings up Bill C-11 and we have a Canadian bend over and take it from our government chat…
Next week is all about Pinterest!
