Bunker Project Episode 76:
All about WordPress
Intro:
Andrew starts off the show talking about how internet search has become social.
Used to be content (keywords) was king, then links… now social sharing.
Search results are customized to your google profile and location.
Andrew remembers episode 1 of the Bunker Project when we all forgot our WordPress plugins… if we get to plugins this episode we’ll share our list of plugins that we use.
The new format of the Bunker Show sounded good last week.
New Format:
Intro with Andrew and Bob
Meetup at the Bar on a specific topic
Andrew gives a shout out to Terry the Locksmith for giving us a 5 star review on iTunes.
A reminder that we are on multiple platforms – iTunes, Zune, Blackberry Podcast App, Stitcher, and more.
At the Den:
Someone brings up a good point that we are talking about the book cover and not the content of the book. Margaret says that the platform makes it easy to get your content out.
Ken explains how to use Livewire.
Livewire allows you to create and edit blog posts offline…
Bob asks “Is blogging dead?”
Bob talks about automated options of posting your blog to google +, which auto-tweets, etc.
We bring up paper.li and storify
There was a great storify article about the Bunker Project.
Who enjoys reading articles or blog posts?
Mr. Anonymous says he only pays for content because most of the content out there is crap.
Bob brings up how you can buy us a beer online and we mention you or your brand.
> Andrew says we should post the buy a beer option on fiverr.
Ken has a new blog:
kamdigital.com – all about broadcasting, podcasting, web design and social media.
– the blunt edge > he can talk about anything he likes in thicategorieses.
Can you overuse plugins?
Wix vs Worpress
Andrew mentions www.facebook.com/thebunkerproject and the cool facebook landing page that Bob made is there… correction >> it’s gone. The Facebook Timeline has eliminated the custom landing page
Why do podcasters generally use wordpress?
WordPress Commenting Systems
Disqus, Intense Debate, Livefyre
What is Pinterest? How is it used? What can it do for me?
James talks about aiudo.com where you can get jobs or post odd jobs. It uses facebook so it is tied to your identy and people can rate your work. This way there is no anonymity.
Margaret and Bonnnie and Marlyn’s book club – The Book Bags
They meet Monday nights at 5pm and talk business books.
Google social search…
See you next week… same Bunker Time, same Bunker station.
