This week on The Bunker Project, Bob (The Black Beer Guy) is still nursing his sore throat and is starting off the show drinking tea. Before the intro Tristan (Cocktail and Social Media Maven) asks Bob what’s really in the tea? Bob swears it is just tea ;).

Google has changed their algorithm again… is it because Bob mentioned they were a spam engine?
Why did they change? What did they change? And who does it hurt?
Arik talks about the internet marketers who are spamming and dropping articles all over the internet to create link bait for their squeeze pages. But who are they serving?

Bob talks about facebook competing with google for search. The facebook interface will be a search engine.

Facebook competes with Netflix >> Starts showing Time Warner content and the UFC is showing pre fights on facebook.

We talk about services being restricted in Canada…. we don’t like!

Tristan says that the algorithm has as much to do with getting people away from not only black hat SEO techniques but legitimate white hat techniques… why? To force people to buy google ads…. interesting theory.

Next question… Who do you trust more. Google or Facebook? If one company is going to take over the internet which one would you want.

Google – Do no evil… Microsoft – Innovate…

Microsoft is pushing people over to the new version of internet explorer and is saying there will be no support for older versions.

James (Game Maven) presents Andrew and Bob a gift from Hawaii… The best Macedamia nuts on the planet!

Check out there cool website… www.

Why does everybody love google?
They give us a ton of FREE stuff… and because they’re Jewish (Arik says they are taking over 😉 )
Bob says you can’t understand Google unless you were a Montessori student…

The Android team works in a small “bunker” in order to keep the startup feel and to keep innovation happening.
We talk about Malcolm Gladwell’s book where he talks about 150 people being the maximum work team for organizational efficiency.

Google Hotpot…. Yelp, facebook places, trip advisor, foursquare, open tables, urban spoon, etc
We talk about Open Tables and how the app helps restaurants manage their reservations.

Blippie – register your credit card info and tracks your purchases
This is as crazy as the license plate application which allows people to call you by using your license plate number.
>> Blippie wins the creepy award

Facebook Places – James says do not check in at your own house.
Tristan checked into Canada and wants to be the Mayor of Canada!

What is the National Cocktail of Canada? Caesar?… Molson Canadian? OK Springs Brewmaster Black?

Was Andrew watching Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling? Did he accidentally post on Optik TV?

Next we talk about hacking…
Pone to own… right here in Vancouver. A big hacking competition.

Bob asks… who is more important to you, your peeps on facebook or your peeps on twitter?

Twitter is the Muffin of the 2000’s ???

David (Audio Engineer Maven) uses twitter for getting professional information from his group of experts. Facebook is his friends and extended network. He uses both for crowd sourcing but twitter is his source of information.
James (The Game Maven) uses twitter for search. He said twitter is like a big city and you can get anything there! His facebook audience doesn’t engage like his twitter audience.
Tristan uses google and forums for search and doesn’t like to use twitter unless he’s built up a community of experts on that particular topic he is searching for.
James uses Yahoo Answers for questions and gets interesting results.

Ivan tried using Twitter to build his social network for his Salsa dancing blog but experienced a lot of Twitter spam… We talk about this and what to do about it.

Arik talks about using SEO strategy in your social media campaigns and your links that send traffic back to your page.

Dave talks about his podcast “Inside Home Recording” which is a show all about Audio Production and Home Recording.
It is an enhanced podcast and an mp3 version.
