This week on the Bunker Project we are joined by our regular Bunker Mavens, the good folks from Standard Action and Owen Clarke from ByzHub joins us via Google Plus Hangout while vacationing in Mexico.

We talk about Google Plus, Twitter, Facebook and other interesting social media topics. A theme this week is conspiracy theories and for some reason everyone wanted the sources of our show notes this week.

What are the sources?

The Bunker Project Show 69 Notes:

Bunker Project Episode 69:

Andrew says show 68 but it is actually show 69.

We start the Round Table intros:

Arik Sternberg – Optimizer Maven
Bonnie Sainsbury – Twitter Maven / Mobile App Maven
Margaret Reynolds – Professional Insurance Maven
Rob and Johanna – Standard Action Mavens – Producer, Director and Writers of Standard Action
James Karg – Gaming Maven
Terry from Mr. Locksmith – Lock Mavin
Steven – Graphic Maven
Bob’s Friend from Bangkok is here
Kurt Hemmingway – The Hat Maven
Owen Clarke – The ByzHub Maven

We talk with Rob and Johanna about where they produce the Standard Action web series.

James talks about partying with Santa Clause.
Andrew didn’t get his eyebrow clippers, Kurt didn’t get his new hat and Arik is still apparently from Europe.
So we must have all been naughty this year.
Bob asks The Gaming Maven how to spell his Twitter name… @twisted_majic. Because he puts the J (James) in magic!

Terry says he has more than 8000 views on his locked out of your bathroom youtube video.
Apparently, it is a big problem. Better than the stinkers though. Terry explains what the stinkers are.

Kurt talks about 2011 being his best year ever. And 2012 is looking to be even better!

Owen Clarke joins us via Google Plus Hangout. He is down in Mexico enjoying a vacation. He’s been there for 3 1/2 weeks now and is having a great time. Owen and his son went and got Mohawk haircuts in Cabo.

Bob tries to get the second season of Standard Action hooked up down in Mexico with Owen.

Owen explains how he started ByzHub and is building a community blog with the ByzHub members.

Arik wants to know if Owen is coming to his next Online Optimization Meetup.

Bob asks if Owen misses Vancouver? And why is he coming back?
Owen is considering staying in Mexico for a full Winter with the kids to learn Spanish. Arik says he should learn Chinese because Mandarin is taking over.

Owen talks a little more about his ByzHub blog. He already has a blog post for every business day of the year.
Arik asks if he has any excellent speakers coming up soon.
Owen is working on Maurice Smith and Seth Godin.

Andrew says that Arik looks kind of like Seth Godin!

The Game Maven wants to know if he gets his insurance from The Insurance Maven.

An official Tangent (The Bunker Project Drinking game: when we go off topic we have a drink!) so we all take a drink.

Arik wants to know what Owens prediction is for Social Media this year. Owen deflects the question to Bonnie… she says Mobile!

We talk about Google + vs Facebook vs Twitter.

Owen says that if you have a Google Business Page you get 3 times more traffic.

150 Million Active users on G+

Johanna says Google Plus is like a party with nobody there. She is there but none of her friends.
Andrew says it isn’t a party where you know people… but a party with new people and a networking opportunity.

Youtube is more integrated with G+
Business Pages and SEO benefits

Kurt is wondering where the metrics come from…

More tangents… We talk about robots – cat petting homemade robot!

Rob and Johanna talk about what Social Platforms they use for Standard Action.
They don’t have a Google + Business page yet but will add one and will monitor Google Analytics to see if it has any effect.

We move on to Twitter… more stats on users.

James brings up New Years Eve Twitter Crash… 16000 tweets per second… Andrew asks if that is the speed limit on twitter? Kurt wants to know what time zone it was?

Everyone wants sources this week. What’s up with that?

New Conspiracy Maven… ??

Rob says can we trust Twitter as a news source because of sponsored trending and censored trending?

Like censoring Occupy Wallstreet…

James says on twitter everyone can say “The sky is falling” and that is why they censor some of it.

Arik brings up that Twitter is a private company and can do what they want… Andrew says true but if they tick off the customer base they will lose customers.

Bob says that the filtering/censoring could be practical business decisions to avoid a crash of the Twitter servers… not to do with a conspiracy agenda.

Bonnie brings up a good point about a bad guy coming along and taking over the airwaves.

Terry said there is an issue with a group (fad based) creating a populist message that takes over the internet.

Owen asks a question: Who actually follows a trend on twitter? Owen likes hashtags but doesn’t like trending.

And the show is done… for this week.
